During the INVITATION stage of our Inquiry Cycle, C&S students shared a lot of things they already know about food. [You can read the KWL chart we made during the Think-Wonder-Learn thinking routine in the last blog post.] As we started our INVESTIGATION stage of inquiry and explored the 5 food groups and how each one of them benefits us, our Wonderings changed into a completely different direction.
Dear parents and families,
This month we have started inquiring into a new unit on food – yummy!
Central Idea: Food is necessary for life
Transdisciplinary Theme: Sharing the planet
C&S is currently putting finishing touches on our first Unit of Inquiry on Who We Are. We are still expecting the field trip to the Fire Station to inquire into collaboration that goes into saving peoples’ lives during fires. A final challenge – student-led Cooking Projects will top off our unit just before the Autumn holidays.
Music plays a big part in our daily routines at C&S.
Music greets us as we settle down in class in the morning, music gently announces our transitions to other activities, it calls us to ‘clean up’, it keeps us calm, helps us express our feelings; it helps us to concentrate during circle time, to dance and get our wigglies out; and music helps us to say bye to our friends as we leave for home at the end of the day.
