Buddy Time

As part of our curriculum we will be having a regular Buddy Time in Creativity and Service Class. This is an opportunity for partnering up with different children, widening our friendships and collaborating together with a variety of short, fun filled activities.

Our first Buddy Time started with Ms. Sheila showing us a collection of coloured toy teddies, there were six different colours. We closed our eyes and held out our hands for a teddy! We were excited to see what colour we would get and then discover who had the same coloured teddy because that person became our Buddy for Buddy Time.

We had to be risk takers at collaborating with someone who might not be our closest friend; most of us managed this with enthusiasm while a few needed some support and reassurance about making a new friend.

Ms. Sheila asked us to sit with our Buddies in cosy spots around the room and share the story books we had just chosen from the library. We took turns looking at each other’s books and pointing out the best pictures and even trying out some sound effect buttons on some special superhero books!

Later on at Book Time, we continued to collaborate at sharing our books and our love of stories, developing our social skills and pre literacy skills too.
