Check out the highlights from our Readers/Writers workshop. We have been expressing a lot of opinions via writing. Graphic Organisers help us to think and sort our ideas and opinions.
We started our new unit Shapes and Space and we have been exploring different 2D and 3D shapes using a lot of different math manipulatives like pattern blocks, attribute blocks, wooden 3D blocks, Base ten units etc… We are making big shapes using small shapes and learning the relationship between the size and the number of shapes and how they change.
This Monday we came to school and found out that our classroom had a makeover over the weekend! We are still wondering who did it? We love exploring new spaces or new systems within our classroom.. ( sshh….hidden clue for our next unit in there! )
We celebrated our end of unit learning this past Thursday. Students showcased their learning in front of the parents. They collaborated with a partner on group project “Impact of human activities on our environment and ways to prevent the extinction”
We finished revising and editing our non fiction books just like real authors. We shared our final books with our writing partner. We also helped our partner revise and edit their own books. We will publish our books on SeeSaw next week so look out for that…..
We had a team building activity as part of our morning meeting on Friday. We were divided in mixed groups and each group was given a scenario. One of the scenarios was:” You and your group is stranded on a deserted island and you can have only 5 things to help you escape from the island safely.” It was such a fun activity to be creative, imaginative, resourceful along with being mindful of other people’s ideas. It helped us in acknowledging the fact that no idea is good or bad and how we can resolve our differences and conflicts in a positive, caring and kind way.
We couldn’t have any communication support from the outside world and had to be resourceful with the five things we were allowed to have.
We collaborated with a partner on a group project demonstrating the impact of human activities on our natural environment. We are using our research and thinking skills to be more curious, caring and empathetic towards our natural environment and it’s inhabitants- plants and animals. We are very excited to go on our Field Trip coming Tuesday to FOUNDATION FOR ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT.
We had Sports Day at Magic Years on February 2nd. We had a Band Performance followed by fun games like track, basketball, soccer, tug of war. It was such a FUN day!
We are practising our multiplication strategies by playing math games after we finish our math problems. It’s so much fun to learn more than one way to find the product of two numbers!
