As you all know J&C chose to represent the north pole for international week! Thank you those for donating empty milk bottles for us to build our miniature sized igloo. We began to realize that collecting 150 – 200 bottles was a tremendous challenge within a short period of time, however we were very fortunate to have the company CP-Meiji donate over 150 bottles for our class to complete our project. The little ones were curious as to see how our igloo stood up as they explored its structure, they wiggled their tiny bodies and made a home for themselves inside, some even brought books to read! The other classes visited us for the week and it was a pleasure seeing our kids and the older ones bonding at the “north pole.” The J&C children extended their inquiry by independently screwing on the milk bottle caps! The igloo is still in our classroom and will be out for a while, so if you would like to come and see it, you are welcome to pop in.[metaslider id=322]
Thank you to parents who made it to back to school night last Thursday! We enjoyed getting to know you and learned a little more about your personal interests. As one of our learning centers involved recording a song in your native language, we wanted to build accessible connections from home to school for your child. It was a pleasure to see parents sharing a little piece of yourself to your little ones! The following day, we left the ipad out in the classroom and showed the children what their parents recorded for them. It was delightful to see each of their reactions as they watched their mommies and daddies sing a song to them. We captured your little ones watching the clips, happy browsing![metaslider id=129]
This August has been unfolding gently for all Joy & Confidence children. Slow transitions into a new space allow our little ones to begin the amazing process of inquiry and exploration. Through embracing our daily routine and enriching engagements such as singing the good morning song we have begun the important process of building relationships with one another. This can be seen throughout our classroom environment in many ways such as children asking ‘Who is this?’ and pointing to their friends name and picture on our shoe rack and cubbies.
The children are already demonstrating skills such as self management and independence by taking ownership of their learning. Here is a glimpse of what has been going on in J&C!
We have been preparing for the exciting start of the new year here in J&C! Our learning environments are coming together and we can’t wait to share them with you and your little ones. This year our team consists of Ms. Zoe, Ms Prom, Ms. Anjana, Ms. Namphrik, P’ Nom and P’ Sri.
We look forward to meeting you all
