Congratulations to our Primary Years students on being risk-takers and completing their first assembly of the year. Their performance was informative and creative. The students discussed their Unit of Inquiry and related it to their exploration of Multiple Intelligence and Edward de Bono’s Six Thinking Hats.
Our teachers at MYIS wanted an additional way to share photos, videos, and audio with our parents and students. Apple offers great products and supports education, so we decided to purchase the new iPod Touch. While doing this, we came across a great way to help fight AIDS in Africa and increase awareness about the disease by purchasing Apple’s (PRODUCT)RED line.
During a recent Parent Working Group meeting, our Director of Teaching and Learning spoke about the importance of reading aloud to our children, both at home and school. Reading can begin at the age of infancy through looking at pictures, listening to an adult’s voice, and pointing to objects on pages.
This was our first time holding an exhibition booth at the Nichada Secret Garden event, and it turned out to be a great success. It was wonderful seeing our parents and students, and meeting new families as well.
The Secret Garden had a large selection of food, clothing, products, games, and shows. Later in the evening there were beautiful traditional Thai dances every half hour.
We are pleased to announce that we will be offering two new After School Clubs: IWICA Chess and Robotics. These two after school activities provide MYIS with educational tools to help develop our student’s minds. These activities have numerous benefits associated with them which can be translated to any situation in life. Our aim is to use these activities to help improve our student’s concentration, critical thinking, pattern recognition skills and many others.
Our Primary students took a short field trip upstairs to see how their former classroom transformed. It is still a classroom, but this time it is for teachers. Their teacher Ms. Annie arranged for the trip to allow students to be a part of the Magic Years change and growth. The new area is known as the Office of Teaching and Learning (OTL). The Office of Teaching and Learning supports the teaching and learning mission of Magic Years International School.
