Earlier this year, we were fortunate to receive a group of educators from the Raision Region Education and Training Consortium in Finland. Altogether three practicum students and their lecturer joined our teaching teams at Magic Years to learn from our educational approach and learning environments.
During their time with us, they honed their observations skills to uncover a deeper understanding of play and inquiry, while also seeing the potential our children possess as they are trusted and respected in building relationships.
The students also focused on developing an understanding of our learning environments and how children learn through play, from each other, and the role of teachers as facilitators in the learning process.
Kirsi spent her first week with the Joy & Confidence Class (2-3 years), her second and third weeks with the Peace & Unity Class (3-4 years), and her final week with the Primary Years. Through this experience, she gained insights into the different developmental outcomes over different phases.
Jenna spent her entire four week internship with the Peace & Unity Class.
Fanny spent her first week with the Primary Years, her second week with the Creativity & Service Class and Excellence Class, her third week with the Peace & Unity Class, and her last week with the Joy & Confidence Class.
Before leaving, our student interns presented a thoughtful gift from Finland to our leadership team! As they left our school shortly before Christmas, the book they presented, the “Twelve Gifts From Santa”, was very appropriate and something for us to remember them by every year.
