Third graders at Magic Years International School were invited to participate in KPIS Inter-School Spelling Bee on Friday, November 13. As their first time participating in an inter-school exchange of this nature, all of our students performed confidently and had fun doing so. Not only was it a great opportunity to associate with students from other international schools, but also a unique experience to take risks, overcome challenges and face adversity.
The 1-to-1 iPad program was successfully launched in our Primary Grades earlier this month. An iPad was provided for each student in Grades 1-3 as a means to equip students with the necessary skills to navigate our ever-changing world. With iPads in their hands, students will learn to investigate and research, create and innovate, communicate, collaborate, organize, and become responsible digital citizens.
Last Friday, we had a fire drill to help students and teachers prepare for emergency situations. Fire drills are scheduled periodically throughout the year, and teachers are informed of fire evacuation procedures beforehand.
Primary Grade students had the opportunity to meet with the co-architects of the new school’s campus. They received the latest information on construction progress, viewed a 3D model, explored a digital 3D rendering, and asked many questions.
Thank you parents for attending our informational session on the “IB PYP Beyond the Early Years” on October 13, 2015. Your turnout helped support our goal of providing our community with unique learning and educational opportunities!
For this event, we invited the Primary School Principal of KIS International School, Ms. June van den Bos, to share her experiences and knowledge of the IB PYP and what learning looks like for students as they move beyond the early years and through a complete IB program.
On Saturday October 10, 2015 our mommy goat Belle gave birth to two cute brown baby goats. A baby goat is also known as “kid”, and other other MYIS kids have already fallen in love with them.
If you attend a workshop, meeting, or even tour the school you will hear the acronyms “IB” and “PYP” used frequently. But what exactly is the IB PYP and what does it mean for you as a parent? Through our blog posts and Positive Parenting workshops we hope to provide clear examples and helpful information about some of the key elements of the IB PYP and how parents can extend these learning practices at home.
The ISAT General Meeting 2 held on Friday, 25 September 2015 at the Siam Kempinski Hotel. It was a great opportunity for Magic Years International School to network with other international schools and receive the latest news and updates that relate to education in Thailand.
There were more than 100 administrators from ISAT schools!
Congratulations to our Primary Years students on being risk-takers and completing their first assembly of the year. Their performance was informative and creative. The students discussed their Unit of Inquiry and related it to their exploration of Multiple Intelligence and Edward de Bono’s Six Thinking Hats.
Our teachers at MYIS wanted an additional way to share photos, videos, and audio with our parents and students. Apple offers great products and supports education, so we decided to purchase the new iPod Touch. While doing this, we came across a great way to help fight AIDS in Africa and increase awareness about the disease by purchasing Apple’s (PRODUCT)RED line.
